Well I'm 5 days post-op and I'm so hungry!!!!! I have to do my clear liquids for a full week and quite frankly I'm sick of it. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions to cure these hunger pains!!!
Broths really helped me thru. Beef and Chicken, as long as your not vegetarian though they have that as well. Made me feel as if I was at least having a main course so to speak and not just sweetened things or those darn shakes or water . Strained tomato soup was by far my saviour though due to it's slightly heavier consistancy. All these submissions are good ideas from all! Good Luck...
I used broths, beef broth in particular seemed to trick me into feeling better. But I also would internally chant to myself that I'm not really hungry. It's in my head, not in my body. That hunger doesn't feel that way anymore. I even asked my husband to say it to me sometimes when I was having some bad issues. =)
Try ice chips, because they are crunchy they give you a great sensation of eating something. Also, here's one of my favorite recipes, it's great strained or blended and it has so much flavor, hopefully it will get you through the next few days. BTW my family hates spinach but in this recipe even my son eats it. I always add a little ground red pepper and extra milk for protein but you could skip the milk if you can't have it yet. This is my rendition of Olive Garden's Tuscan soup. Enjoy!

1. Mix ingredients and boil for 1 hour<O</O
I was constantly hungry also during my first week's clear liquids and to help make it thru I started adding creamy soups to my diet and that really helped me make it longer between meals. Then I panicked and contacted my liason about what I did and she assured me it was fine as long as it was liquid - whew! What a relief that was! Also, as the suggestion above, make some homemade soup and drink the broth from that. It tastes so much better and fills you up better when you know what's in it and it tastes good. I made some chicken and dumplings my second day home (about 4 days post-op) and fed it to my family while I had the broth and it was the best thing that crossed my lips and I felt so good afterwards! You'll find what works for you, just keep moving!
