Hi all, I find this website so very helpful and encouraging. I had a lap band done in August 2001, they had to remove it the day after. After taking that swollen test, which i didn't do so well on, I was in such much pain, my band had slipped and for some reason my stomach was having an reaction to the plastic. The dr told me this happens to one out of 100 people. I guess I was one of those lucky ones. After years of doing weight watchers, and all the diets under the stars, my weight just went up and down. I became a diabetic 4 years ago. My Dr suggested I get the sleeve. I told him no way, I went thru the lap band procedure that was enough for me. I was going to do it the healthy way.
After increasing my medicine for my diabetics , I talked it over to my family and they said they would support me with whatever decision I decide.
I had to go thru all that testing that lasted about 6 months. At first my insurance denied it, I was thinking maybe that is a message that I shouldn't have it done. It got denied cause the girls in the office didn't submitted all the necessary papers. When it was submitted it got approved. So I had my surgery on 8/1/2016 I was praying so hard when I had to take that swollen test. It just took me to a bad place in 2001, but I thank God everything went well and no leakage.
The nurses in the hospital were so nice , they sent me home with about 40 little cups about 1 ounce and took me to just slip slowly. I go back to my dr on aug 12th for a follow up appt.
I wish everyone luck who is going thru this journey with me.
