    Default Gaining weight fast!

Hello I just had my sleeve a little over a week ago. When I went to the doctor for my 1 week post-op appointment I had lost 10 pounds but since then I have gained back over 6 of those pounds! I'm freaking out because I feel like I'm doing everything they tell me to but now I'm just gaining back.
I can't figure out why this is happening! Any advice?

There is a difference between "feeling like you are doing everything they told you to do" and actually "doing everything they told you to do and avoiding the things you should not be doing". I only say this because I have used the same sort of language to rationalize my bad eating behaviors in the past. Not saying that is your case..but gaining 6 pounds 1 week after surgery seems a bit on the high side. When in doubt consult your medical team.

    Heaviest: 387 pounds (1999)
Weight last appointment prior to surgery: 265 (6/29/12)
Weight beginning of two-week full liquid/high protein diet: 265 (7/25/12)
Weight day of surgery (8/8/12): 253.2
    ONEDERLAND: 12/10/12: 198
    100 pounds lost 7/3/13
Reached goal weight of 160 pounds on 9/9/13 (1 year, 1 month, and 1 day post-op)

First, I don't think you can gain six pounds of fat, 1 week after surgery! You probably had multiple IV bags during surgery and postop hospital stay that has contributed to water weight gain! Hang in there, it will come off!

    Couple of thoughts.
Do you know the scales at both places, home and doc to be matching? Did you weigh yourself at home the same day and get the same weight?

Are you swelling up anywhere? Do you hurt anywhere more now than after surgery? If so, please see your doc asap.

Other than that - I'd say what happened is that at that first weigh in you were very dehydrated and since then you have begun to get your liquids in and in reality you have lost 4 lbs since surgery, which sounds about right. Your body is just rebalancing. Also, pardon my frankness but if you are constipated it could be part of it. I can't see how you could be cheating or eating wrong much at this point. Heck, it's hard to get anything down much but liquids and unless you are drinking 3 or 4 milkshakes a day (kidding, I'm sure you aren't) then you haven't gained anything back fat wise... it's just about your body settling it's hydration level.
Hang in there, get your water or sf liquids down and move a little each day.
    take care

This is correct, it is not fat.
To gain 6 lbs of fat in one week, you have to eat 21,000 calories, or 3000 calories every day for a week.
It's not possible for someone who was sleeved less than 2 weeks ago to eat that much in a week.
    It's water.

Do not panic! The nurse in my dr.'s office told me your weight can dance around the first 2 or 3 weeks because of all the IV fluids from the hospital. Also your body may be holding on to everything because it isn't getting much. These things happen. She said any weight you lose in the first 3 weeks is just cake, and you should enjoy it. Looks to me like you lost 4 lbs. That is great!

Thanks for all of the great answers! I wasn't getting the required amount of liquids before but now I am. I am less worried about it now because I know I am following the guidelines. I guess I just have to learn to be patient and positive. Thanks again everyone!!

You should not worry too much about the scale. Right now the scale is your enemy, try to stay off it. It will say 6 lb gain today and 12 lb lost in a week. Just follow your post op plan and the weight will fall off. You may get stalled but don't get discouraged. Allow your body to heal your still swollen once your swelling goes down the scale will also.
